WooCommerce Wholesale & B2B Pricing: Retail and Trade Customers in One Store
I set up WooCommerce so retail shoppers and approved trade buyers use the same store but see different prices, minimum quantities and checkout options. Wholesale prices are calculated on the server, buyer approval is built in, and everything is managed from your normal WooCommerce admin — without running a second store.

How retail and wholesale work in one WooCommerce store
Every customer belongs to a group: guest, retail customer or approved wholesale buyer. A custom plugin reads that group on the server and applies the right price, minimum quantity and checkout options. Because prices are calculated on the server, a wholesale price can never be seen or changed in the browser by someone who isn’t approved. It uses the standard hooks from the WooCommerce developer docs.
Example: LumiKids
LumiKids, a kids’ fashion brand, sells single outfits to parents and bulk orders to shops. One custom plugin handles both: shops register through a wholesale sign-up, staff approve them, and approved accounts see wholesale prices across the store. Customers sign up with a phone number because that’s what their buyers prefer. The same plugin and theme later powered a second brand, Arlens Leather. More on WooCommerce development.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Should I use a wholesale plugin or a custom build?
If your rules are simple and a single well-maintained plugin covers them, start with the plugin. If you need several plugins to get there, have special pricing logic or care about speed, a custom plugin is usually more reliable and costs less over time.
Can I hide prices from the public?
Yes. Prices can be hidden for logged-out visitors, shown only to approved wholesale buyers, or both retail and wholesale prices can be shown to the right people.
How are taxes handled for trade buyers?
Tax rules follow WooCommerce's settings, with options per customer group — for example tax-exempt status for verified businesses where your accountant confirms it applies.
Can wholesale buyers order from a quick list?
Yes. A quick order form or re-order from past orders is part of the B2B Portal option.
