The Challenge
SafetyMeds trains healthcare assistants in weekend cohorts of 25 students. The college needed more than a brochure site.
It needed to take applications and payments online. It also had to deliver lessons, track progress and issue certificates.
Off-the-shelf LMS plugins would add cost and clutter. They would also not match the college's exact process.
The Solution
I built a custom WordPress theme and a custom LMS plugin. Every part follows the college's real admission and training steps.
Applicants choose a program and pay online. Students then log in to their portal for live classes, materials and their logbook. Instructors record results. Admins approve payments and issue certificates.
Each certificate carries a QR code that links to a public verification page.
The Results
The college now runs admissions, payments and training from one website. Everything was tested from start to finish.
Employers can verify any certificate in seconds. Staff update fees, cohorts and content in the admin area.
The site loads fast, even with 27 optimized WebP images.
What I Built
This healthcare college website runs SafetyMeds Healthcare College in Lagos. It is both a marketing site and a full learning platform. Students apply, pay, learn and get certified in one place. Here is what I built.
- Custom theme and LMS plugin. I wrote both from scratch. All site content is editable from one admin area.
- Programs and admissions. Seven program pages, clear fees and an online application.
- Online payments. Students pay by card through Paystack, or by bank transfer with admin approval.
- Student, instructor and admin portals. Each role sees its own dashboard after login.
- Live classes and community. Classes run on Jitsi or Zoom. Students also get Q&A, chat and a community area.
- Logbook, results and certificates. Graduates receive certificates with a QR code. Anyone can verify a certificate online.
- Search and AI visibility. Schema, an XML sitemap and an llms.txt file help Google and AI tools.
The result is a healthcare college website that runs the whole student journey. Staff manage it without a developer.
